What we do...
We have regular weekend campout events each month from April through October, usually starting on the 3th Friday of each month. During the off season, those of us that are not snowbirds gather monthly at a restaurant for dinner and to stay in touch. We try to limit average travel time for regular campouts to less than 2 hours from Roanoke to be environmentally responsible. Our dues are $12 per year and we expect active members to camp with us at least 3 times each year. Most miss less than 1 or 2 events. Our members often organize other optional camping trips to events in neighboring states, vacation camping and special events like "The Rally", which is organized by the Internation Good Sam Club, being held in Louisville, KY this year.

Depending on the current number of members, each regular campout event is 'hosted' by 1 or 2 members so that no member has to host more than 1 campout a year. Hosting means that they pick the campground and make a block reservation, plan the menu for Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday evening and Sunday morning as well as events or games. There is no requirement for the fanciness of the meals and often the host opts for a 'pot luck' or to have the group caravan (by dingy) to a nearby restaurant for the Saturday night meal - Dutch treat. Each member calls as instructed to make any deposit on their campsite when required and they pay their campground site fees directly.

Prospective Members...
We like to have prospective members camp with us, as a guest, a couple of times to learn about us and how we camp. I would like to extend that invitation to you so that you can determine how Good Sam chapter camping might enhance your RV enjoyment and to get your questions answered so that you can consider joining our happy band. As a guest, you have to do nothing except pay for your campsite, provide you own lunch on Saturday and enjoy yourselves - and maybe a Dutch treat dinner out on Saturday night. Contact any member of Star Valley Good Samers and make arrangements. If it's January through March we would welcome you to dine out with us and get to know us before the camping season begins in April.
